Ross 780 E

New release April 2008

In the last few years 30 families have ordered the previous Mk III version of the Ross 780 which was popular because of it’s attractive price, impressive headroom and comfort, generous sleeping arrangements with two separate doubles plus the saloon settees and much, much more.

From young professionals with newborn children to retired couples, they have been very happy with their choice of boat and continue to enjoy the many advantages of their Ross 780 Mk III and the trailable yacht concept generally.   The open transom allows relatively easy boarding access, so ‘boat-a-vanning’ is a practical option.   The Ross 780 has sailed the waters and ‘boat-a-vanned’ many coastal & inland attractions throughout much of Australia.   National Parks, Lakes/Dams & Mountain hiking are our favourites.

This latest and greatest version, the Ross 780 E, is another big improvement over what was already a great boat.   The redesign has a longer cabin with even more headroom throughout.   A permanent dinette is now available and the bathroom is larger and completely separate.   The cockpit is also longer for more practical space and comfort.   Stern lockers are also longer & deeper.   To summarise, a much improved boat with more headroom, greater storage capacity, improved stability and lots, lots more.

Ease of Handling
This boat has been designed, equipped and rigged to make tasks such as towing, rigging, launching and sailing as hassle free as possible after appropriate training and experience.
My wife and I find these tasks a comfortable and easy single-handed and/or two-person operation.

Value & Features
Owners consider the stylish lines and practical layout make the boat a Class leader when features such as sleeping arrangements, headroom, storage capacity & options, interior space & volume, performance, ease of handling, boarding access and price are considered.
The challenge is to find a better deal.

Trailer
The standard trailer allows the boat to be launched and retrieved without the need to submerge the rear axle and bearings.  This means that little of the trailer gets wet.  Centerline rollers have stainless steel pins.   Break-away brakes are featured.
Promotes longer life and less maintenance compared with submerged trailer types.

Outboard
The option of a linked outboard to rudder-box arrangement improves maneuverability under outboard power particularly in shallow water and confined spaces.  Positioned aft of the transom, the noise and fumes from the outboard are less intrusive.
A minimum 8 HP is recommended.

Cruising Rigs
Shorter and lighter rigs to suit individual needs are available.  Owners report surprisingly good performance.
More comfortable short-handed operation.
